There are few such evocative names as Zanzibar, the island that is part of Tanzania & lies about 20 miles off the coast near Dar es Salaam. For the first night you will be based in Dar es Salaam then, on the next day move to the old Stone Town, and have an opportunity to wander through fascinating narrow streets & the bustling bazaar. The following three nights you will spend on Zanzibar’s endless white, palm fringed beaches in a beach resort of your choice.
Upon your arrival you will be transferred to your prearranged hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to recuperate from the journey or walk around seeing new things.

Visit Lloyd Mathew's Architecture: In 1893, Lloyd Mathews built the prison. The prison idea was to send violent criminals from the Tanganyika mainland to the Prison Island. The Prison Island ended up being used as a quarantine center, instead of a prison, for yellow fever epidemics that once raged through the region. Prison Island remained in the ownership of the government which converted the newer quarantine buildings into a guest house.
See The Giant Tortoises: The old prison still remains standing, providing shelter for some of the giant tortoises which can now only be found on this island.
